BLAH BLAH BLAH

I was inspired by my brother and his first solo exhibition in 2011. The following year I joined him for our first joint art exhibition. “Blah Blah Blah” was an exhibition centered around our favourite music and artists. All the paintings I did here were done on a square format the size of a used vinyl shipping box as I was introduced to all the wonderful music from my parents vinyl collection.
This yellow series are of one of my favorite band, The Beatles. I drew John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison against a yellow background based on their Yellow Submarine album.
Annie:  Annie was the very first musical I watched as a young girl. I loved it a lot especially the song ‘Tomorrow’
Neil Sedaka: My favourite Neil Sedaka song was ‘Calendar Girl’. I drew one of the titular Calendar Girls from the music video.
Simon and Garfunkel : I loved the song Scarborough Fair, so I drew Parsley, Sage Rosemary and Thyme, lyrics from this lovely song.
Don McLean : Vincent , for this somber song, I feel like my drawing of Vincent Van Gogh himself reflected this energy. For this drawing I also used a typewriter to type out the lyrics to the song and cut and pasted it in the background.
